When Is the best time to trim my cedar hedge?

The best time of year to trim your hedge depends entirely on the current state that it's in, but, the main growing season here in Ottawa is from April to late September. These are the months where you'll see the most growth, however trimming cedars in general can be done anytime between March - November (weather permitting)

If your hedges have gone longer than 3 years without a regular trim, we at Greencraft Hedge & Garden recommend an early spring visit. When cedars are left unmaintained, they begin to branch towards sunlight & shed previous seasons growth - leaving you with patchy or "sparse" hedging that compromises your privacy & the health of the trees.

Planting outside of these windows will expose your saplings & the root systems to extreme temperature that will shock & prevent them from properly taking hold, hindering healthy growth or even resulting in a total loss of the tree.
